Troubadour intervals application

Troubadour platform – IEEE Access paper published

By

We have been working on the troubadour platform – an online web-based e-learning platform for ear training. In this research, we have been collaborating with the teachers and the students from the Conservatory for music and ballet, Ljubljana. Our work was also recognised by the IEEE Spectrum magazine, where I had a short interview about the platform (https://spectrum.ieee.org/tech-talk/computing/software/interactive-elearning-platform-boosts-performance-of-new-musicians)

Compositional hierarchical model for rhythmic pattern analysis

By

We recently published another paper on the compositional hierarchical model. In an attempt to further generalise the model, we adjusted and applied it to rhythmic input. The model showed promising results; while it was trained unsupervisedly, it identified basic rhythmic patterns. Moreover, it adjusted to live music (live performance) where it unsupervisedly discriminated between different meters. Quite awesome! The full…

Roland VK-7 sticky keys red glue problem – solved

By

About two years ago I bought a nice sounding Roland VK-7. The keyboard was in nice shape – however, it did develop (or had previously) a few flaws during the last year. The first problem (which I also informed of by the previous owner) was a random reset of the whole keyboard. After googling about similar problems other VK-7 owners had,…

Hammond XB-2 – the conclusion

By

Dejan and I have finally managed to perform one last attempt to fix the Hammond XB-2. As said in my previous blog post, the XB-2 I bought had an interesting distorted sound problem. This is a video of the sound problem: We tried a number of things, including the DRAM swap. Today, we performed the SRAM swap. Since we were not able to obtain…

Fixing Hammond XB-2

By

A few weeks ago Dejan and I began our work on Hammond XB-2 again. The current problem can be heard here: We tracked the problem back to the static RAMs, which was also mentioned as a solution in one of the comments on this similar youtube video. We opened the keyboard and took out the main board. As you can…

Z veseljem sporočava, da bo ReverSing v naslednjih tednih prešel v javno beta fazo. Big boys … new toys: Roland VK-7 and Hammond XB-2

By

Last week I bought two aswesome instruments  – a Roland VK-7 and Hammond XB-2. The latter unfortunately has the MUSE chip failure. I tested it few months ago and shot this video. I still haven’t given up on it. I checked some options including the XB2-kit. The kit is however more expensive than a fully functional keyboard (and the XB-2…

Friction Drum - Lončeni Bas

MusicTechFest – Friction Drum

By

On Saturday Karmen and Miha presented the electric version of the Friction Drum instrument (a folk instrument well known in Slovenija, as well as other parts of the world) at Music Tech Fest in Ljubljana. The presentation was awesome, as well as the demo of them playing. I managed to make a few pics with my mobile phone (thus, the quality) and a…

MusicTechFest – Compositional hierarchical model

By

Today, Manca, Luka and I presented the Compositional hierarchical model at the Music of Science session at Music Tech Fest in Ljubljana. As a part of his undergraduate degree, Luka built an awesome transcription editor which uses the CHM as classifier. It will probably never reach version 1.0 since the “ideas” stack grows exponentially. However, we are planning on providing a freeware…

Crumar – we’re almost there!

By

Z Dejanom sva uspela identificirati še zadnji problem nedelovanja in šumenja orgel.
